Bert Garrick
Bert began training Capoeira in 2006 and holds the rank of Monitor. He received his green/blue belt in 2015 from Mestre DiMola.
In 2010 Bert started teaching Capoeira youth workshops with TEEK Fellowship, an NYC based program that helps talented students from low income families achieve potential, and in 2011 started teaching kids, teens and adult Capoeira classes in Brooklyn. He has been teaching Capoeira afterschool programs to kids and teens in NYC Public and Charter Schools as well as annual summer camps since 2012 through the Kids Creative organization. Bert has performed Capoeira all over the tri-state including Met Life Stadium and has been featured on a number of local news segments. His class was listed as one of the top 5 fitness classes in NY 2 years in a row in NY Magazine
Bert is also a certified Fitness Boxing Instructor under former Professional Boxer Barry Kirton Jr and has recently begun training Jeet Kune Do, Filipino Martial Arts and Thai Boxing under Sifu Phil Cruz.
